It's recommended to sight this pin at 20 yards. Today's high-speed bows don't need to be sighted in for less than 20 yards as a general rule, but be sure to practice these close shots after you are sighted in. The subsequent pins, below the top pin, are recommended to be sighted in at 30, 40, and 50 yards.

You can also fine-tune your bows draw length by increasing or decreasing the size of your D-loop. You can also twist or untwist your strings and cables. Twisting the cables an even amount on each side will lengthen your draw length, untwisting them will shorten your draw length.

It's important to know your draw length before purchasing a compound bow, particularly because a few models cannot be adjusted.
