Gardai in Carlow are appealing for witnesses following ashocking incident where a woman was abducted whilst sitting in the back seat of a car. The car was stolen outside a chipper in Bagenalstown at around 11.30pm last Sunday night when the delivery driver stopped at Rico’s takeaway on the Royal Oak Road, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow to collect food. When the driver entered the premises, a single man sat in the driver’s seat and drove the car away at speed in the direction of Church Street as the keys had been left in the ignition. Unknowingly the thief did not realise that the driver’s partner was sitting in the rear of the car at the time. When he realised his mistake, a couple of hundred metres down the road, he abruptly stopped the car, demanding that the woman get out which she did. The man then drove off in the car. Gardai said that the car involved in this incident is a 08 D registered grey Peugeot 307 hatchback. In a statement Gardai described the ordeal as ‘very frightening for the lady’. ‘We’d ask anyone with information there to please come forward to Bagenalstown Garda Station with any information in relation to that incident or the car involved in it,’ they said. Anyone with information in relation to the incident, or who may have dash-cam and CCTV footage is asked to contact the Gardai at Bagenalstown Garda Station on 059-9721212. Today's top videos
